WHAT'S THIS ?
The Mashrooms is a visually linked four-room music studio, a retrofuturistic collage-home ready to audiovisually capture your creative process and performance, for professional recording, rehearsing and, if you want, stream it live.
We're Strange Pill (Ben Hardy & Zahara Muñoz-Vicens), musicians, multidisciplinary artists and producers taking the concept of "liveroom" to a whole house, our living and working space art house.

Welcome to a channelling portal to creativity, Thunderbirds meets JamesBond, with a special high quality sound and unique approach to exploring, capturing & producing music in an otherworldly environment.

WHAT WE DO HERE

LIVE AT...
MASHROOMS
PJ Harvey's Recording In Progress at Somerset House, The Beatles: Get Back and John Cage's Water Walk, amongst many others, reinforced our belief in the relevance of visual relatedness and legacy for the emergence and the making of a song, and all the stories in between, as well as live performance itself. Moments that are otherwise lost in the audio recording.
With our setup, all rooms are connected with cameras and monitors so everyone can feel as if in the same space -you can keep it private or livestream it to let people have a glimpse into your creative and recording process.
We're also scheduling full live performance recording events.

REHEARSING & LIVE TRACKING
Thanks to our multiple room separation, we specialise in live tracking recording and capture the energy and essence of your music in its beautiful rawness, with full production control over the individual instrument tracks.

Also rehearse in an inspiring environment, and use the studio to capture your rehearsals, with the freedom to take your sessions with you.

PRODUCTION
We can mix and produce your tracks and help you take your music to really interesting places; and you are also welcome to bring your own engineer/producer (working with ProTools + RME TotalMix + Ferrofish).

We upload your stems to our cloud so you can have access and mix it yourself at your convenience from anywhere.

Either way, this is a great organic space to record and experiment.

We also create soundscapes and compose. Contact us for sound design, sound scoring and other music production.

OUR SPACE ODDITY
The visual narratives
of music
At The Mashrooms, we believe that music recording should be an art form - we like to unveil the visual narratives of music, so they don't get lost in the audio recording. That's why we take a different approach to the recording process, focused on capturing the essence of the music performance.

We love music, love creating it and capturing it, and we will welcome any ways you want to work in this unique space.

From this perspective, in addition to the usual music studio services, we have created an audio visual collaboration platform IVM (Interactive Video Machine), connected to the studio to download/upload your stems AND create deconstructable music videos.
With this innovative feature you can invite your audience to enter a journey of perception expansion for each of your songs.

Below there's an example of how far you can go with this approach... Our experimental proposal for a different digital experience of your finished songs. Dive in!

OUR SPONSORS
We have worked with hundreds of different musicians, from grassroots and unsigned to established artists and organisations. Our work has helped us gain sponsorship, help and advice from audio and video companies that have been of fundamental support to build and develop our studio with their high-end technical expertise and equipment.
